Charvel/Jackson MIJ Neck-Thru Super-Strat (Mid-'80s) – Metallic Blue – HH – Kahler Trem – Original Tweed Case

Here’s a true mid‑'80s MIJ sleeper — a neck‑thru Charvel/Jackson‑era super‑strat built at the legendary Chushin Gakki factory during the golden age of Japanese craftsmanship. Finished in deep Metallic Blue, loaded with HH Jackson ceramic humbuckers, and equipped with a factory Kahler tremolo, this is one of the rare high‑end configurations that sits above the standard Model Series guitars of the era.

Under the finish, this one is built with mahogany body wings — the good, dense, mid‑'80s stuff — giving it a thick, sustaining midrange and a punch that most super‑strats from the era simply don’t have. It’s a monstrous mahogany super‑strat, the kind that roars under gain and feels alive in your hands.

Despite never having had a full professional setup, it runs like a tank and plays with the authority you only get from a real neck‑thru MIJ build. Tremolo works but I use it as a hard-tail.

Highlights

  • Mid‑'80s Charvel/Jackson MIJ (Chushin Gakki factory)
  • Neck‑thru construction — premium tier, not a bolt‑on
  • Mahogany body wings — warm, sustaining, powerful
  • Metallic Blue factory finish
  • HH Jackson ceramic humbuckers (textured covers, era‑correct)
  • Factory Kahler tremolo (smooth, stable, classic '80s feel)
  • Fast neck, excellent upper‑fret access
  • Original tweed case included (hinges + handle replaced, fully functional)

Condition

This guitar has been played and shows it — a handful of dings, scuffs, and honest wear throughout the body. Nothing structural, nothing ugly, nothing that affects performance. Just the kind of real‑world wear you expect from a 40‑year‑old super‑strat that was actually used.

Neck‑thru joint is solid, electronics are healthy, Kahler operates smoothly, and the guitar feels incredibly stable. Despite never having had a full pro setup, it plays well and holds tuning like a champ.

The original tweed case has been repaired with new hinges and a new handle. It’s fully functional, looks great, and adds real value to the package. New Strap in photos included.

Tone & Feel

This guitar has that unmistakable MIJ mid‑'80s authority:

  • Thick, sustaining mids from the mahogany
  • Tight, articulate attack from the neck‑thru core
  • Ceramic HH punch that stays clear under gain
  • Smooth, expressive tremolo response from the Kahler

It’s a beast — the kind of super‑strat that outperforms many USA and MIJ guitars from the same era.
